Nature of the Skill
The nature of a skill refers to a skill’s observable characteristics. This allows skills to be classified by specific criteria including the environment (open or closed skills), the movement itself (gross or fine motor skills), the beginning and end points of a skill (discrete, serial, or continuous skills) and the timing of a skill (externally or self paced). However, skills do not distinctively fall into one particular category. Instead, they exist along a continuous axis.
