Strategic and tactical development
Strategic development refers to the way athletes play, where they should be at a particular time and what to do. Tactical development is about applying different ways of gaining an advantage over an opponent.
Strategic and tactical development is based on the following things: Technical efficiency – Players need to ensure they have the correct technique when executing a particular skill. This will assist in having consistency in the movements and skills. Understanding – Players need to know and understand what will be required of them when playing their sport. This needs to be done prior to match day as new strategies are harder to grasp when a player already has pressure on them because they are performing that day. Skill execution – Training needs to replicate game like senarios to ensure that a player can execute the skill when in a game. Initially it is good to learn new skills without the added pressure of having defense. Once the skill is mastered, defense needs to be added to ensure maximal oppurtunity for growth. |
